Calhoun County School District consists of Bruce City Schools, Calhoun City Schools and Vardaman City Schools.  With the addition of the Calhoun Vocational Center, the Calhoun County School System is providing quality education to the whole of Calhoun County.

    

The school district serves approximately 2,800 students in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade.  We have nine individual schools under one school district and over 400 dedicated personnel are employed by Calhoun County School District.

Calhoun County School District Mission Statement

The mission of the Calhoun County School District is to provide educational opportunities for all students according to their capabilities. The district's curriculum will be diverse and challenging in order for students to achieve local, state, and national standards. Because the district believes that all students can learn, we commit to a comprehensive system of support to assure this outcome. This mission statement will direct the educational goals of the Calhoun County School District. The district's policies, regulations, and procedures must be consistent with this mission.

School Board News


Calhoun City Elementary recieved High Performing school for the 2010-2011 school year.  Bruce High, Vardaman Elementary and Vardaman High all were successful schools for the 2010-2011 school year.

 

Each of these schools met academic growth and had QDI scores of 157 or above.  This is not an easy endeavor for any academic institution with more intense curriculum and higher standards. Teachers are teaching from bell to bell and more diversely than ever to maintain the high level of academic success.
 
The Calhoun County School District continues to strive toward excellence in the academic setting. Innovative teaching strategies along with loyal and dedicated school staff, has created a successful educational environment for all Calhoun County School District students. It is the goal of the Calhoun County School District to continue educational initiatives along with technological methods to enhance the possibilities that all of our schools will become high performing educational institutions.
 

The Calhoun County School Board will meet at 7:00 PM on the last Monday of each month in the board room of the Calhoun County School District Office.
